Individual Letters or Connected Wordmarks?
Individual letters let you position characters separately. A connected wordmark supplies more of the relationship between characters as one shape. Neither format removes the need for a fit check: the complete design still has to suit the available placement area and the appearance you want.
Clarify what is connected
A photograph may show a whole word without revealing whether its letters are separate, joined by the finished design or simply arranged together for presentation. Ask how the artwork will be supplied and how it is intended to be positioned. Do not infer the application method from the product image.
Decide where you need control
With separate characters, the layout stage must establish the gaps and the baseline. This gives you decisions to make, not permission to improvise the spacing after bonding has started. Position the whole word according to the approved layout before committing to the application.
A connected design fixes more of those relationships. Check the complete outline against the intended area, particularly at its ends and around any graphic attached to the wording. A wordmark that looks correct on a flat proof may still need a physical placement assessment.

Compare the same wording at the same scale
Use the exact phrase you plan to order in both proposed formats. Record the overall width, character height and any extra graphic dimensions. Looking at unrelated words or different font sizes can make a format appear to fit better when the difference is actually in the artwork.
Ask for the packing and positioning references
Before ordering, confirm whether the supplier identifies individual characters, complete arcs or complete sets on the packing list. Also ask which layout reference accompanies the pieces. These details determine how you will check the delivery and organize installation.
For custom wording and graphics, describe any need to adjust spacing or order replacement components early. The appropriate format should be resolved in the quote and proof, not discovered when the kit arrives.
